freeze with reverb and delay
Recently, I had a session with Markus Birkle in which he gave me the great advice to use one of the expression pedals to control the volume of my mic going into a reverb.
Instead of turning reverb on and off, this is a volume swell BEFORE the effect. This enables me to “freeze” layers or tones on the fly while playing.

I played around with this today and here is the result:
Overall I think this works really great, especially in an improvised context. I recorded two basic loops on D and C. I switch back and forth between them to shake things up. Later I recorded an ostinato on flaggeolets D and A and sent them into a delay. I also recorded a beat with my triggers which worked not so well. They are attached in a new fashion and their instability, wrong thresholds meet my in-ability to play a beat tight with my fingers.
